Technical parameters and construction requirements for a waterborne coating used for automobile plastic workpiece were introduced. The differences between two coating processes of Euro-American system and Japanese 3C1B system for plastic bumper were compared. The construction characteristics between waterborne coatings and solvent coatings were compared. The electrostatic spraying process of plastic workpiece and the factors effecting coating quality were discussed. Problems existing in the popularization of waterborne coatings for automobile plastic workpiece were analyzed and their solutions presented.
