UL Standard for Safety for Communications Cables, UL 444
Fourth Edition, Dated July 11, 2008
Revision pages have been issued for the Standard for Communications Cables, UL 444, to
incorporate the following:
• Addition of a size determination of copper clad conductors.
• Revision to the air-gap coax acceptability.
• Addition of requirements for metallic messengers.
• Revision to dielectric testing on communication cables.
• Editorial corrections.
• Clarification of size requirements of copper-clad aluminum conductors.
• Application of requirements in 5.1.2.
Text that has been changed in any manner or impacted by UL’s electronic publishing system is marked
with a vertical line in the margin.
The revised requirements are substantially in accordance with Proposal(s) on this subject dated August 7,
2009, January 22, 2010 and January 29, 2010.
