This item is the property of Dell, Round Rock, Texas and contains confidential and trade secret information.  This item may
not be transferred from the custody of Dell, except as authorized by Dell and then only by way of loan for limited purposes.  
It must not be reproduced in whole or in part and must be returned to Dell upon request and in all events upon completion of
the purpose of the loan.  Neither this item nor the information it contains may be used by or disclosed to persons not having
a need for such use or disclosure consistent with the purpose to the loan without prior written consent of Dell.
This specification covers the test procedures and levels for qualification of shipping packages for all Dell products.  This
minimum requirement is for all products shipped to and from all Dell facilities by all modes of transportation and includes
O.E.M. equipment.

3.0  PURPOSE  
The packaging should provide protection for the product from the environmental conditions it will see from the
manufacturing site to the final customer. The purpose of this specification is to define the minimum test requirements to
insure that the packaging will protect the product from the handling, storage and shipping environments it will be exposed to.
There are four tests (vibration, drop, compression, and chassis sag) and three product types (Single container, palletized
container weighing 45<W<250 pounds and palletized container weighing more than 250 pounds) defined in this
specification.

3.1  Deviation to Specification
Changes or deviations to this specification are permitted with the appropriate Dell Packaging Engineer’s approval. Rational
and justification must be documented in the test report. Additional tests maybe performed if it is deemed necessary because
of a special or unique product of environmental conditions.

Any changes to the packaging system after initial acceptance must be approved by the appropriate Dell Packaging Engineer
prior to implementation.
